Instrument & Control Technician

About the role

The Instrument & Control Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control devices that monitor and control plant equipment. This role ensures reliable performance of transmitters, control processors, safety systems, and related hardware within a production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead inspection, testing and preventive maintenance programs for instrumentation assets.
• Perform daily troubleshooting, calibration and repair of flow, level, pressure, temperature and vibration transmitters.
• Maintain and update P&IDs, loop drawings and instrumentation databases.
• Support Operations and Project Engineers on scope changes that affect instrumentation.
• Generate performance and reliability reports and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Adhere to Management of Change (MoC) procedures and company HSE policies.

Required profile

• Experience in industrial instrumentation and control system maintenance.
• Familiarity with safety‑instrumented systems (SIS), fire & gas detection, and DCS/SCADA environments.
• Ability to work safely on‑site, follow permit‑to‑work processes and participate in safety meetings.

Required skills

• Instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of HART and Fieldbus smart protocols.
• Experience with DCS/SCADA, HMI, control processors, and SIS.
• Proficiency in handling digital valve controllers (DVC), motor‑operated valves (MOV) and valve positioners.
• Ability to update and manage P&IDs, loop drawings and instrumentation databases.
