Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technician – Data Center

About the role

Amazon is seeking an energetic, detail‑oriented Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technician to join its Data Center Engineering Operations team. The role supports the physical infrastructure of Amazon Web Services data centers, ensuring that mechanical, electrical and fire/life‑safety systems operate at 100 % availability while delivering first‑class service to internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment such as standby diesel generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors and VFDs.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and troubleshoot facility‑level and rack‑level events within internal SLA.
• Take daily operational readings and record data in the internal CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and standards while working on‑site.
• Participate in shift rotations and support 24/7 data‑center operations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on experience with electrical or mechanical systems.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and follow strict safety protocols.
• Journeyman license in electrical or mechanical trades is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with diesel generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors and VFDs.
• Familiarity with building automation systems and CMMS for workflow management.
• Root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting of MEP equipment.
