About the role

Port.io is building an open, agentic SDLC platform for modern engineering organizations. The company seeks a strategic technical leader to drive AI‑focused engineering evolution, reporting directly to the VP of R&D. This senior role combines people leadership, deep technical expertise, and organization‑wide transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership for AI‑focused engineering domains, managing multiple teams and ensuring delivery velocity and quality.
• Lead AI developer experience initiatives, introducing AI‑driven tools, frameworks, and workflows to accelerate R&D throughput.
• Champion technical authority and governance by challenging existing architectures and promoting innovative AI solutions.
• Orchestrate cross‑functional projects that require deep technical alignment across disparate teams.
• Define and execute a long‑term AI technical roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, observability, and engineering excellence.

Required profile

• Extensive senior engineering leadership experience, typically as a Director of Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven ability to manage and coach senior engineers and team leads.
• Track record of driving AI‑centric transformation across a large R&D organization.
• Experience reporting to senior executive leadership (e.g., VP of R&D).
