Data Engineer – Enterprise Data Lake (Jerusalem)

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a team building a large‑scale enterprise Data Lake for a defense organization in Jerusalem. The role is focused on designing, developing and maintaining scalable data infrastructure in an on‑premises Cloudera environment, and on creating high‑volume data pipelines that enable advanced analytics and AI.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain a robust data lake on Cloudera.
• Develop high‑throughput ETL/ELT pipelines using Spark, Hive and Impala.
• Collaborate with analytics and AI teams to provide reliable data feeds.
• Optimize SQL queries and data models for performance and scalability.
• Ensure data quality, security and compliance within a defense context.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer.
• Hands‑on experience with the Apache ecosystem (Spark, Hive, Impala).
• Strong programming skills in Python, Scala or Java for ETL/ELT development.
• Advanced SQL expertise, including complex analytical queries and performance tuning.
• Deep understanding of distributed data architectures and data modeling.
