Big Data Engineer – R&D Team

About the role

Join Similarweb’s R&D team as a Big Data Engineer. You will design and implement high‑scale systems that collect, process, and analyze massive volumes of digital data, delivering actionable insights to our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build complex, high‑scale data pipelines and processing systems using a variety of technologies.
• Collaborate daily with data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts to solve challenging data problems.
• Maintain and improve existing codebases and data‑pipeline infrastructure, continuously exploring new tools and removing bottlenecks.
• Experiment with machine‑learning and big‑data processing technologies to enhance product capabilities.
• Develop monitoring solutions to ensure reliable data ingestion and calculation.

Required profile

• Passionate about data and its impact on business decisions.
• BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 4 years of software or data‑engineering experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Ownership mindset and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Solid understanding of data structures, design patterns, and object‑oriented programming.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control using Git.
