Staff Hardware Technician – Electronics Lab & R&D

About the role

The Staff Hardware Technician will own and operate the electronics R&D laboratory, supporting prototype development, assembly, testing, troubleshooting and field validation for clean-energy technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the electronics laboratory, including equipment, tools, materials and overall lab readiness.
• Build, modify and assemble prototypes, electrical harnesses, cables, connectors and electronic assemblies.
• Perform professional soldering, rework and component modification on electronic boards.
• Support PCB assembly, bring-up, debugging and troubleshooting activities.
• Set up, operate and maintain development test equipment and testers.
• Design and execute laboratory tests for PV panels, batteries, motors, actuators and RF systems.
• Prepare equipment and test setups for field trials and participate in field experiments.
• Collect, document and analyse test results, assisting engineers in failure analysis.
• Maintain a safe, organized and effective laboratory environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in electronics laboratories, R&D or prototype development.
• Strong practical electronics and electrical skills, including soldering, wiring and harness assembly.
• Proven ability to build test setups and execute test procedures independently.
• Willingness to support field testing and work outside the laboratory when required.
• Attention to detail and strong technical problem‑solving aptitude.
