Software Engineer – Lakehouse Data Platform

About the role

Cato Networks is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join its Data Platform Group. You will build and own large‑scale analytical storage and data pipelines that process around 1 million records per second, directly impacting customers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• End‑to‑end ownership of the analytical storage layer, including data modeling, schema design, partitioning, retention, and query performance.
• Design and develop batch processing using Spark on EMR (Java and PySpark).
• Build and evolve Java/Spring Boot microservices that expose data via APIs.
• Optimize performance and cost through query tuning, file layout, cluster sizing, and storage efficiency.
• Research and adopt new lakehouse technologies.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing large‑scale distributed data systems with a strong performance focus.
• Deep expertise in at least one columnar/analytical database (e.g., ClickHouse) or Apache Spark at expert level.
• Strong Java development skills and solid object‑oriented design knowledge.
• Experience building microservices on Kubernetes and working with AWS services (EMR, S3, Glue).
• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
