Software Engineer III, Infrastructure

About the role

Google is looking for a Software Engineer III to join its Infrastructure team, working on large‑scale systems that power Google Cloud services. You will help design, build, and operate distributed platforms that support compute, storage, and networking at global scale.

Key responsibilities

• Write high‑quality production code for infrastructure components and services.
• Participate in design reviews, evaluate technology trade‑offs, and influence architectural decisions.
• Review peer code, enforce best practices, and ensure reliability, testability, and performance.
• Maintain and improve documentation and educational content for internal and external users.
• Diagnose, debug, and resolve system issues affecting hardware, network, or service operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• Experience building large‑scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or working with compute, storage, or hardware architecture.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and problem solving.
