Software Development Manager – AWS EBS Data Plane

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the Durability Engine of the AWS Elastic Block Store (EBS) data plane. You will guide a high‑performing engineering team that builds and operates one of the world’s largest distributed storage systems, enabling reliable, high‑performance virtualized storage for millions of customers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with top engineers across AWS to solve large‑scale, complex storage challenges.
• Design, develop, and operate secure, performant, and reliable components of the EBS data plane.
• Partner with product and program management to define roadmap and deliver features.
• Mentor team members, conduct thorough code reviews, and foster a knowledge‑sharing culture.
• Drive adoption of modern development tools, including AI‑assisted coding assistants.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• 7+ years of hands‑on engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle.
• Proven ability to work with product and program managers.
• 5+ years of professional experience writing C or C++ code.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
