Senior Mechanical Engineer – R&D Medical Devices

About the role

Magenta is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its fast‑growing R&D team developing the Elevate™ System, the world’s smallest heart pump. You will play a pivotal role in designing, testing, and bringing to market life‑saving medical technology in a dynamic startup environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in design and development of all product aspects.
• Lead mechanical development tasks and sub‑projects within R&D.
• Design mechanical parts and assemblies and produce 2D drawings.
• Create test methods, design fixtures, and conduct feasibility research.
• Interact with suppliers and manufacture R&D prototypes.
• Qualify test jigs and perform engineering verification and validation tests.
• Provide technical input for usability engineering, risk management, and field clinical engineering.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (or Biomedical/Materials Engineering).
• 3–5 years of hands‑on mechanical development experience.
• Experience with complex, high‑precision systems such as medical devices, aerospace, or robotics.
• Proven end‑to‑end ownership of mechanical components or sub‑systems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of LabVIEW and MATLAB (advantage).
• Hands‑on laboratory skills and mechanical testing expertise.
