Maintenance Technician

About the role

Join Sugar Creek Packing Co., a leading independent bacon processor, as a Maintenance Technician. You will keep critical production equipment running safely and efficiently, supporting continuous operations in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance on drives, motors, belts, fluid levels, filters and other equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical malfunctions, troubleshoot, and execute corrective repairs using hand and power tools.
• Dismantle, rebuild, and sanitize machinery and field devices to replace defective parts.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure all maintenance personnel comply.
• Utilize mechanical prints, repair manuals and parts catalogs to guide repairs.
• Complete work orders, daily maintenance reports and maintain communication with Plant Management.
• Support safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training or associate degree with an electromechanical focus preferred.
• 2+ years experience with automated equipment, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and maintain positive relationships across departments.

Required skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) compliance.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical prints and schematics.
• Use of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Relay logic troubleshooting, including control field devices, contactors, starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, photo eyes, VFDs, HMIs and interlock safety devices.
