Mainframe System Operator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IBM Mainframe System Operator to join Kyndryl’s global operations team. The role ensures the stable, secure, and uninterrupted operation of mission‑critical mainframe production environments that support key business applications.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor IBM Mainframe production environments 24x7 and follow established run‑books.
• Execute daily operational procedures, including IPL activities and planned maintenance windows.
• Track system performance, identify potential issues proactively, and handle production incidents with first‑level troubleshooting.
• Manage batch processing using JES2/JES3, restart failed jobs, and work with scheduling tools such as Control‑M or CA‑7.
• Monitor system consoles, respond to system messages, and perform backup and recovery operations when required.
• Escalate incidents according to procedures and coordinate with Application Support, System Programmers, Storage, Network, Database, and Security teams.
• Produce shift reports, maintain operational documentation, and participate in disaster‑recovery tests and production exercises.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures and security policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience in enterprise IBM Mainframe environments.
• Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a 24x7 production setting.
• Strong analytical and operational mindset with excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams.
