Head of Data

About the role

Upwind is a next‑generation cloud security platform that uses runtime context to prioritize risks and protect cloud infrastructure. We are seeking a Head of Data to own our data strategy, lead the Business Intelligence organization and transform Upwind into a data‑driven company.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the data and BI roadmap, aligning it with product and business goals.
• Lead and grow a team of data engineers, analysts and BI specialists.
• Design and scale a reliable data platform that ensures high data quality and accessibility.
• Establish data governance practices, including PII and GDPR compliance.
• Develop a company‑wide KPI framework and provide analytical insights to senior leaders.
• Build self‑service analytics capabilities to empower product, engineering and commercial teams.
• Identify data gaps, create solutions and measure their business impact.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data or BI leadership roles, preferably in high‑growth technology or SaaS companies.
• Proven track record of scaling data/BI organizations and driving cross‑functional change.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data capabilities into measurable outcomes.
• Excellent communication, ownership and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of modern data and BI architectures and tools.
• Experience with data governance, including handling of PII and GDPR.
• Ability to design KPI and metrics frameworks.
