Executive Director/VP Medical Science & Strategy – Metabolic

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an Executive Director / Vice President to lead the Medical Science & Strategy team for its Metabolic portfolio. Based in the EMEA region with travel to China (or possible relocation), the role drives strategic, scientific, and business outcomes for the PPD clinical research business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality input for major RFPs, covering development strategy, regulatory considerations, drug class issues, protocol design, safety, and team education.
• Engage with client physicians and senior medical leaders during bid defenses and identify new business opportunities.
• Lead proactive client engagement, peer‑to‑peer interactions, strategic alliance development, and advisory board governance.
• Deliver industry‑leading product development plans and design clinical trial protocols through PPD’s consulting practice.
• Support the broader PPD clinical research activities by ensuring scientific rigor and strategic alignment.

Required profile

• Extensive track record in Metabolic therapeutic areas with recognized peer status in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven ability to drive strategic and measurable business outcomes at senior executive level.
• Strong leadership experience managing medical science and strategy teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally, particularly to China.
