Executive Director / VP Medical Science & Strategy – Oncology

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an Executive Director / Vice President to lead its Medical Science & Strategy team for Oncology within the PPD clinical research business. Based in the EMEA region with travel to China (or possible relocation), the role will shape scientific strategy, support bid proposals and drive growth in oncology clinical research.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality scientific input for RFPs, including development strategy, regulatory considerations, drug class and protocol design.
• Engage with client physicians and therapeutic area leaders before and during bid defenses, identifying new business opportunities.
• Lead proactive client engagement through peer‑to‑peer interactions, strategic alliance development, and advisory board governance.
• Deliver industry‑leading product development plans and design clinical trial protocols through PPD’s consulting practice.
• Educate internal teams on indication specifics, safety, and regulatory issues to ensure alignment with client expectations.

Required profile

• Extensive oncology experience with a recognized track record comparable to senior pharmaceutical industry peers.
• Proven ability to drive strategic and measurable business outcomes in a global clinical research environment.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with senior medical and scientific leadership of client organizations.
• Willingness to travel internationally, particularly to China, and flexibility regarding relocation.
