Electrostatic Discharge Engineer

About the role

The Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Engineer will help shape the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration by designing and maintaining ESD control measures for advanced silicon products. Working within Google’s AI and Infrastructure team, you will contribute to the development of custom TPU silicon that powers millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement ESD control plans and procedures for new silicon products.
• Evaluate ESD risks across design, manufacturing, and handling stages and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Manage and run simulation tools such as Mentor PERC and Ansys PathFinder.
• Apply ESD design rules and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and resolve ESD‑related issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in ESD control within a manufacturing or product development environment.
• Experience scripting in TCL or Python.
• Preferred: Master's degree, chip reliability experience, strong problem‑solving abilities, and ability to work both independently and in a team.
