Director of Engineering – Measurement

About the role

Triple Whale is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead its Measurement organization, overseeing roughly five teams (15 engineers) and shaping both technical direction and operational performance. The role blends 70 % people management with 30 % hands‑on engineering, requiring deep system knowledge and the ability to jump into code, data flows, or production issues when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, prioritize, and unblock work across teams, aligning technical and business context with leadership and product.
• Set clear delivery expectations, own hiring, structure, performance management, and empower team leads while holding them accountable.
• Shape engineering strategy with the Director of Product, balancing short‑term business needs against long‑term reliability, data correctness, cost and technical debt.
• Remain technically engaged, reviewing designs, debugging, and ensuring systems are reliable, scalable and cost‑effective.
• Represent Triple Whale in technical discussions with partners such as Meta, Google and TikTok, and drive AI‑assisted workflows and automation across the organization.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of proven experience managing multiple engineering teams with responsibility for delivery and production systems.
• Strong individual contributor background as an engineer with significant hands‑on experience.
• Experience scaling fast‑growing startup engineering organizations, hiring and developing leaders, and establishing effective processes.
• Excellent coordination, judgment and communication skills to navigate shifting priorities and cross‑team dependencies.
