Data Center Operations Manager – Global Server Operations

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is responsible for the physical infrastructure that powers its services. As a Data Center Operations Manager you will lead a team that installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains server and network hardware across third‑party data center sites, ensuring high availability and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of data‑center technicians, set priorities, conduct regular performance and development meetings.
• Oversee daily operations in third‑party owned data‑center facilities, managing installations, maintenance and complex troubleshooting.
• Maintain and execute security and operational procedures, track trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Support and implement Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and ensure compliance with safety policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems or hardware.
• Minimum 5 years managing technical, vendor or contract delivery teams.
• Ability to work non‑standard hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, and travel up to 50 % of the time.
• Preferred: experience in data‑center environments, global initiative execution and safety‑culture leadership.

Required skills

• Linux operating system and cluster management.
• Server hardware installation and preventative maintenance.
• Networking equipment configuration – routers, switches, hubs, bridges.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and compute architecture.
