Software Engineer – Networking & Drivers (C)

About the role

Xsight Labs is developing high‑performance networking solutions for scale‑out infrastructure. As a Software Engineer you will work on low‑level C code, bring up new hardware, and collaborate with senior engineers across firmware, silicon, and verification to deliver production‑ready software.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and optimise C features for user‑space and kernel‑adjacent components such as packet I/O paths, drivers and utilities.
• Design, debug, test and tune device drivers, including performance optimisation.
• Perform hands‑on SW/HW integration, board bring‑up and end‑to‑end data‑path validation in the lab.
• Investigate complex issues using logs, packet captures and profilers, and deliver robust fixes.
• Add automated tests, improve CI signals and produce clear documentation and design notes.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions, learning from senior mentors and sharing knowledge.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
• 1–4 years of software development experience in C.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C programming.
• Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals (processes, memory, concurrency, sockets).
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as Ethernet, IP, TCP and UDP.
• Experience with device driver design, development, debugging and testing.
• Familiarity with DPDK user‑space application development.
• Hands‑on experience with SW/HW integration, board bring‑up and measurement.
• Scripting for tooling/automation using Python or Bash.
• Use of profiling and debugging tools like gdb, perf, tcpdump and Wireshark.
