About the role

Interests AI is Amazon’s AI‑powered personalized discovery experience that blends shoppable products with helpful content. The team builds high‑performance web and mobile experiences used at Amazon scale, combining personalization and generative AI. As a Software Development Engineer you will design and deliver engaging features for millions of customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate features for the Interests experience across web and mobile surfaces.
• Deliver end‑to‑end solutions focused on maintainability, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with Product and Science teams to define experiences, run experiments, and iterate based on data.
• Build AI‑powered experiences such as personalized updates, relevance explanations, and contextual recommendations.
• Implement analytics events and experiment configurations to measure engagement and retention.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong customer obsession, bias for action, and ability to lead and deliver robust solutions quickly.
• Excellent judgment, communication skills, and a focus on engineering and operational excellence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Java, C++ or C#.
• Object‑oriented design and full software development life‑cycle experience.
• Experience with architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling of systems.
• Knowledge of server‑side rendered web experiences and performance‑oriented UI rendering.
• Familiarity with A/B testing, analytics instrumentation, and metrics‑driven iteration.
• Understanding of AI/ML integration and generative AI applications.
