Senior Financial Controller

About the role

Utila is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Controller to lead its finance function as the company scales. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will own the end‑to‑end accounting, reporting, and compliance processes for a fast‑growing fintech platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close process, delivering accurate financial statements on time.
• Oversee accounting operations for the US parent and international subsidiaries, including bookkeeping, balance‑sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and cash management.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and collections in partnership with the broader Finance team.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, reconciliations, accounting policies and revenue‑recognition for SaaS contracts.
• Lead interactions with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors and payroll providers.
• Support statutory reporting, tax filings and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Partner with department heads on budgeting, variance analysis, forecasting and cost control.
• Assist FP&A and business stakeholders to ensure financial reporting reflects operational activity.
• Drive finance system enhancements, automation, reporting infrastructure and data quality.
• Contribute to audits, due‑diligence and strategic finance projects while building the Finance team.

Required profile

• CPA qualification with Big 4 audit experience.
• 5+ years of in‑house finance experience, including at least two senior finance roles after Big 4.
• Proven track record of controller‑level responsibility in high‑growth technology companies.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, intercompany accounting, cash management and SaaS revenue recognition.
• Experience managing multi‑jurisdictional statutory reporting and tax compliance.

Required skills

• Expertise in financial reporting, accounting close processes and internal controls.
• Hands‑on experience with bookkeeping, balance‑sheet reconciliations and working‑capital management.
• Familiarity with SaaS contract accounting and revenue‑recognition standards.
