Production Engineer

About the role

Xtend, a leading defense‑technology company, is seeking a Production Engineer to join its Manufacturing Engineering team. This hands‑on position supports day‑to‑day production, improves manufacturing processes, and creates the tools and documentation needed for efficient, high‑quality output.

Key responsibilities

• Provide real‑time technical support on production lines and assist assembly teams.
• Design, define, and build jigs and fixtures that enhance assembly accuracy, quality, and throughput.
• Create detailed work instructions with diagrams, images, and step‑by‑step sequences.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for production and quality issues and lead corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cycle time, and ergonomics.
• Train operators and assembly personnel on new processes, jigs, and standards.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Process Engineering, and Supply Chain to optimise production procedures.
• Maintain and update all relevant production documentation.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience designing and specifying jigs and production fixtures (mandatory).
• 3+ years of production or process engineering experience with complex electro‑mechanical systems such as drones, robotics, lasers, or electronics.
• Proven ability to develop assembly work instructions and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
• Independent, proactive, and highly structured with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Good command of English (reading, writing, speaking).

• Microsoft Office suite (Excel proficiency is a plus).
• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Priority) – nice to have.
• CAD tools for visual work instructions.
• Video/animation tools for documentation.
• Hardware component handling and troubleshooting.
