Principal Security Researcher – Microsoft Defender

About the role

Microsoft Security is looking for a seasoned researcher to join its Israeli team and help advance Microsoft Defender’s Security Exposure Management solution. You will dive deep into corporate computing environments, uncover attacker techniques, and turn massive telemetry data into actionable security insights.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth analysis of security controls, attacker tactics, and anomalous patterns.
• Explore large‑scale data sets to generate new security posture insights.
• Design, build, and evaluate AI‑driven research productivity and production workflows.
• Partner with engineering teams to implement code that supports research findings.
• Collaborate with product groups to create cutting‑edge sensors, detection logic, and data‑driven validation.
• Work across the Microsoft threat protection suite to turn innovative ideas into product features.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in security research.
• Proven ability to lead a feature from design through production (design, coding, testing, deployment).
• Strong cross‑group collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Eligibility to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.
