Power Supply Expert - Tel Aviv Metro

About the role

Egis, together with its partner Gadish (METAV), has been appointed Network Manager for the planning, design and construction of three new underground metro lines in Tel Aviv, covering 149 km and 109 stations. The Power Supply Expert leads the Power Supply activity within this project, reporting to the Client.

Key responsibilities

• Study the project documentation thoroughly, focusing on the Power Supply system (high voltage substations, medium voltage distribution, traction power simulation, traction and auxiliary substations) and the interfaced requirements, interfaces and deliverables.
• Review the designs submitted by the Line Managers, analyse their proposals and give technical and programme feedback, including multiple criteria analysis to justify acceptance or rejection.
• Decide which Line Manager proposals to apply across the network to reduce costs and improve operation, maintenance and reliability.
• Carry out studies to amend the metro tender documents and coordinate with Rail Systems, civil works and external stakeholders for testing and commissioning.
• Act as the Client's technical, process and professional expert, making engineering decisions, resolving technical clashes and monitoring compliance with the Power Supply documentation.
• Support the Client in statutory design approvals and develop network-level reference designs and performance specifications where needed.

Required profile

• Senior Power Supply engineer with at least 15 years' experience in major infrastructure or transportation projects, including mass transit.
• Fluent, clear English and excellent communication skills, with the ability to build good working relationships and represent the Client.
• Ability to coordinate in a multi-cultural team and apply engineering contracts in a Client-Consultant-Contractor environment.
• Capacity to anticipate, substantiate choices and manage stakeholders such as national suppliers.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of the Power Supply discipline, including EMI/EMC, stray currents, third rail, catenary system, earthing and bonding, lightning protection, UPS and batteries.
• Experience designing Power Supply for large metro projects.
