OCS Expert - Urban Railway and LRT Projects

About the role

Egis, an international group in construction engineering and mobility services, is hiring an OCS Expert based in Jerusalem. You will lead the Overhead Contact System (OCS) / OHLE engineering scope and site construction supervision for the urban railway and LRT projects in the city, as well as future transportation projects in Israel, and oversee the design and implementation of OCS/OHLE systems on the LRT Blue Line. The role reports to the Technical Manager and Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert knowledge of OCS design principles in line with international standards, supporting Engineering Monitoring and Consultancy (EMC) services.
• Review detailed design documentation, calculation notes, manufacturer submissions and equipment approvals from the Design & Build contractor against tender specs and standards.
• Prepare Design Review Sheets (DRS) and review OCS designs (foundations, poles, anchoring, contact wire leveling, tensioning, earthing, lightning protection, voltage-triggering devices) for at-grade and underground sections, recommending improvements.
• Support the client's engineering team and prepare technical queries to contractors on design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning, especially at interfaces with the J-Net project.
• Take part in weekly OCS/OHLE meetings covering design reviews, system integration, interface management and site testing supervision, and coordinate with civil works, track and power supply experts.
• Monitor progress, report to the Technical Manager and review preliminary designs for planned tramway extensions.
• Carry out site supervision visits to check construction activities and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Represent the OCS/OHLE discipline in meetings with the client, contractors and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a valid professional license.
• At least 25 years of experience in railway OCS/OHLE engineering design.
• At least 10 years of experience in LRT or tramway projects.
• Solid knowledge of international railway OCS/OHLE standards and best practices.
• Fluent written and spoken English; French is an advantage.
• Experience in Design & Build railway projects in an international environment is highly desirable.
