Mechanical Design Engineer – Airborne Surveillance Systems

About the role

Microcon, a subsidiary of CONTROP, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development and production transfer of airborne electro‑optical surveillance systems. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, taking full ownership of projects from concept through high‑volume serial production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts.
• Develop and release manufacturing and assembly drawings, applying DFM, DFA and DTC principles.
• Manage subcontractors, resolve production line issues, and support failure investigations.
• Maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) and handle Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Design electronic packaging solutions, including circuit boards and cabling.
• Support procurement for development projects and gradually assume full product development ownership.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the defence industry.
• Proven experience with opto‑mechanical and electro‑mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to lead transfer‑to‑production processes and manage subcontractors.
• Strong documentation and technical review skills.
