Maintenance Worker I or II

About the role

The City of Sunbury is seeking motivated individuals for the position of Maintenance Worker I or II. This role supports the Service Department in delivering essential public‑works services across the community, ensuring streets, parks, stormwater systems and municipal facilities remain safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on streets, sidewalks, lighting, and cemetery grounds.
• Assist with stormwater infrastructure upkeep and park/grounds care.
• Conduct snow and ice removal, and support community events setup and breakdown.
• Operate and maintain city equipment, including trucks, mowers, and snowplows.
• Respond to service requests and work in varying weather conditions.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and retain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License within 24 months of hire.
• Physical capability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in adverse weather.
• Effective communication skills and a positive, self‑starting attitude.

Required skills

• Heavy equipment operation.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (or ability to obtain).
• Class B Commercial Driver’s License (or ability to obtain).
