Machine Learning Scientist II - GenAI Applications

About the role

Booking.com is looking for a Machine Learning Scientist II to join the GenAI Applications team within the Data & AI Marketplace department. You will work with cross‑functional engineers and product managers to design, evaluate, and ship generative‑AI‑powered solutions that improve search, trip planning, and customer‑service experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop end‑to‑end agentic systems, ensuring production‑grade code quality and efficiency.
• Build generative‑AI solutions for diverse tasks using state‑of‑the‑art techniques.
• Create and execute evaluation strategies, including new metrics and evaluation judges.
• Collaborate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and maintain best practices for GenAI development.
• Partner with product managers, data scientists, and analysts to translate business needs into ML solutions.
• Perform deep data analysis to assess model performance, label quality, and feature exploration.
• Work closely with ML engineers to meet latency/throughput requirements and deploy models to production.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience delivering machine‑learning solutions to production.
• Proven track record with generative‑AI models and natural‑language‑processing applications.
• Experience planning and executing research and development projects for large‑scale ML systems.
