FPGA Design Engineer

About the role

Quantum Machines is seeking a hands‑on FPGA Design Engineer to join the QM‑Platform team. You will develop high‑performance digital logic and FPGA‑based system components that enable scalable quantum‑control hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement FPGA interfaces such as PCIe, I2C, SPI and high‑speed GT communication blocks.
• Develop and integrate RTL on Xilinx UltraScale+ and Versal platforms.
• Collaborate with embedded, hardware and system teams to ensure seamless HW/SW/FPGA integration.
• Lead FPGA bring‑up, debugging and validation in lab and system environments.
• Contribute to system architecture definition and cross‑team design decisions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in FPGA design and digital system development.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Verilog / SystemVerilog RTL design.
• Hands‑on experience with Xilinx UltraScale+, Zynq or Versal families.
• Implementation and debugging of high‑speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, JESD, etc.).
• Proficiency with FPGA development flows: synthesis, place & route, timing closure.
• Lab debugging tools such as ILA/ChipScope, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Simulation and verification methodologies (RTL and gate‑level).
• Scripting in Python, TCL, Makefile; programming in C/C++.
