Director of Data Science

About the role

Fetcherr is looking for a Director of Data Science to lead the Large Market Model (LMM) group. You will own the end‑to‑end machine‑learning lifecycle of the market model, from data pipelines through model training, serving, and monitoring in production environments used by commercial teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Set the roadmap for MLOps, ML engineering and data engineering, aligning with LMM management and senior executives.
• Prioritise work across functions, review technical trade‑offs and hold leads accountable for delivery dates and reliability.
• Own the infrastructure for model training, serving and large‑scale data processing, including cost management.
• Define and track group KPIs, reporting progress and risks to senior management and commercial teams.
• Collaborate with the applied research team to move research results into production.
• Recruit, retain and develop senior engineers, and establish engineering standards such as CI/CD, automated testing, observability and model monitoring.

Required profile

• 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading teams and managers.
• Proven track record in multi‑group environments delivering AI‑first products that run live for customers.
• Deep production experience with time‑series forecasting, reinforcement learning or large‑scale optimisation.
• Ability to set direction for a machine‑learning or data‑engineering organisation and hold managers to delivery commitments.
