DevOps Engineer

About the role

Simplex 3D is seeking a hands‑on DevOps Engineer with 1‑2 years of experience to own and evolve the operational side of its cloud‑based 3D geospatial SaaS platform. You will work closely with the lead engineer and development team to ensure the platform is reliable, secure, and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve AWS environments, including compute, storage, networking, databases, IAM, and production configuration.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for frontend, backend, and data services using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
• Maintain Docker‑based development and production environments and ensure consistency across stages.
• Implement logging, metrics, alerts, dashboards, and health‑checks to improve observability and uptime.
• Define and manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
• Handle security and access management, including secrets, IAM permissions, and network policies.
• Support PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases, backups, migrations, and performance monitoring.
• Improve developer experience by streamlining local setup, build processes, and deployment workflows.
• Investigate deployment failures, performance issues, and infrastructure incidents.
• Monitor AWS usage and drive cost‑optimization for compute‑heavy 3D, GIS, and AI workloads.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of professional experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related role.
• Practical experience working with AWS.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and containerised applications.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub‑based workflows.
• Comfortable working in Linux environments and using the command line.
• Basic scripting experience with Bash, Python, or a similar language.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals such as DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, ports, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging concepts.
