Controller – Revenue & Financial Reporting

About the role

Kela is seeking a Controller to own the full revenue and income‑stream lifecycle, from bookings through cash collection, and to play a central role in month‑end close, consolidated reporting and the annual audit. The role reports directly to the Director of Finance and works closely with sales, delivery and program teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support the month‑end close cycle, reviewing balance‑sheet and P&L accounts and performing analytical reviews.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and own end‑to‑end revenue accounting processes, including bookings, invoicing, deferred revenue and collection.
• Reconcile revenue and receivables against orders, contracts and delivery milestones.
• Partner with sales, delivery and program teams to ensure accurate order and billing data.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance on recurring reports and work with external auditors during the annual audit.
• Provide guidance to bookkeeping staff and communicate with other departments to reflect business activities in financial statements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and a CPA license.
• Experience in the audit department of a Big 4 accounting firm.
• 2+ years as an Assistant Controller or Controller in a growth‑stage startup.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining confidentiality.

Required skills

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification.
• Big 4 audit experience.
• Expert‑level Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
• Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles.
