Software Development Engineer – Elastic Block Storage (Durability Engine)

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Elastic Block Store (EBS) Data Plane team focused on the Durability Engine. You will work on core EBS logic that powers high‑performance, highly durable virtualized storage for EC2 instances.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain components that enable EBS storage durability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional AWS teams to build secure, reliable, and scalable systems.
• Solve complex problems at massive scale, contributing to one of the world’s largest distributed storage systems.
• Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and knowledge‑sharing within a diverse engineering team.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 1+ years of experience in software design or architecture.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a passion for building large‑scale systems.

Required skills

• Software development for distributed storage systems.
• Experience with AWS services, particularly Elastic Block Store.
