Senior Software Development Engineer – Elastic Block Storage (Durability Engine)

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the Elastic Block Store (EBS) Data Plane team. You will work on the durability engine that underpins the reliability and performance of EBS storage, a core service used by virtually every AWS customer.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core EBS logic that ensures high durability and performance at massive scale.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across AWS to build secure, performant, and reliable storage systems.
• Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and knowledge‑sharing within a high‑performing engineering group.
• Contribute to strategic projects that improve the overall data plane architecture.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong background in building large‑scale, distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• AWS services, especially Elastic Block Store (EBS) and EC2.
• Proficiency in programming languages used for systems development.
• Experience with performance optimization and durability mechanisms.
