Staff Full-Stack Engineer

About the role

april is seeking a technically visionary Staff Full-Stack Engineer to shape the future of its tax platform. You will design and build scalable systems that enable rapid delivery of high‑quality user experiences for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Lead critical, cross‑functional engineering initiatives from design through deployment, ensuring quality and scalability.
• Participate in technical decision‑making, knowledge sharing, and mentorship across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless, data‑driven experiences.
• Evaluate and introduce new tools, technologies, and practices that raise engineering excellence.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a senior, staff, or principal role.
• Proven track record designing and building distributed systems at scale in cloud‑native environments (GCP or AWS).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in backend technologies: microservices, event‑driven architectures, REST and gRPC APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with modern front‑end frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
• Fluency in system design, balancing scalability, performance, and developer experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
