General Counsel for $1B+ D2C Brand & Family Office (Remote)

About the role

Puffy, a market‑leading D2C brand with over $1 billion in annual sales, is seeking a General Counsel to lead its in‑house legal function. The role spans consumer‑facing compliance, family‑office fund documentation, and multi‑jurisdictional asset structuring, reporting directly to the CEO.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute a Monthly Legal Exposure Audit integrated into business operations.
• Conduct Quarterly Compliance Sweeps of checkout flows, terms of service, arbitration clauses, pricing, and FTC endorsement guidelines.
• Negotiate hedge‑fund subscription agreements, side letters, and LP terms prior to capital deployment.
• Establish Quarterly Fund Documentation Reviews covering subscriptions, custody arrangements, loan covenants, and counter‑party protocols.
• Implement investment security controls, including authorized account whitelists and multi‑party verification.
• Structure asset‑protection strategies across multiple international jurisdictions.
• Identify and surface at least five material legal risks within the first 90 days.

Required profile

• Minimum 8‑10 years of experience in corporate, securities, or commercial law, preferably with exposure to e‑commerce and family‑office environments.
• Proven track record of building legal functions from the ground up.
• Direct reporting experience to C‑level executives.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, risk‑first approach.

Required skills

• Expertise in contract negotiation and drafting.
• Deep knowledge of consumer protection, FTC, and securities regulations.
• Experience with cross‑border structuring and fund documentation.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted legal research and risk identification tools.
