Applied Researcher – Poultry Laying Hens (Egg Production)

About the role

Northern R&D is seeking an applied researcher to lead investigations into laying hen production, focusing on physiological, nutritional, and technological aspects that enhance efficiency and product quality in Israel’s northern agricultural region.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage applied research projects on laying hen health, welfare, and egg quality.
• Develop research proposals aligned with national and international funding programs and secure grants.
• Analyse experimental data, prepare scientific reports, and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Collaborate with farmers, industry partners, extension specialists, and academic institutions both locally and abroad.
• Integrate sensor technologies and data‑management tools to monitor poultry house environments.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant field (e.g., animal science, veterinary medicine, agricultural engineering); post‑doctoral experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and lead projects.
• Strong teamwork and staff‑management capabilities.
• Fluency in Hebrew and English, with proven scientific writing skills.
• Willingness to work beyond standard hours and relocate to northern Israel if necessary.
