Mainframe Operator – IBM Mainframe Production

About the role

Kyndryl is looking for an experienced Mainframe Operator to join its global team. You will be responsible for monitoring and operating IBM Mainframe production systems, ensuring high availability and reliability for mission‑critical business applications.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and operate IBM Mainframe production environments, performing job scheduling, batch processing, console monitoring, and health checks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents promptly, escalating when necessary.
• Proactively detect performance issues and coordinate with infrastructure, application, database, storage, and network teams.
• Execute operational procedures, disaster‑recovery activities, and scheduled maintenance.
• Maintain accurate operational documentation, logs, and runbooks.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and provide 24/7 support for critical events.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience with IBM Mainframe operations.
• Strong knowledge of the z/OS operating system.
• Ability to work under pressure, communicate clearly, and handle shift work.

Required skills

• z/OS, JES2, JES3, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, IBM Mainframe console operations.
• Job‑scheduling tools such as CA‑7, Control‑M, Tivoli Workload Scheduler (or equivalents).
• Familiarity with CICS, DB2, IMS, RACF, and batch processing environments.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery procedures.
